Corporate Identities and Logos

After looking into the corporate identity for HAY in my research I have tried to find other examples of similar styles of minimal typographic corporate identities and logos.

Definition: corporate identity is the qualities of a company that make it different from any other company by making itself familiar to its customers, investors and employees usually by using images or words.

Logo/logotype: a symbol or other small design adopted by an organisation to identify its products or uniform. In graphics also known as a logotype, a graphic representation/symbol of a company name/trademark/abbreviation often designed to be recognisable.

GU DESSERTS

Designers: Big Fish

Big fish came up with the name Gü and based on the idea that these were “puds so indulgent they were strictly for grown-ups”, also designing its visual identity and packaging. They are still working with Gu, recently rebranding it for the international market. Even though the logo is minimal and simplistic, I love contrast in the graphic stylish packaging.

V & A

Designer: Gianbattista Bodoni

The letters of the V&A logo were originally designed by Gianbattista Bodoni over 200 years ago. I think the logo design is really clever, I like how part of the ‘A’ has been removed, it is bold and unique as well as still being legible.

MOMA

MoMa has been one of the most recognisable institutional brands since the 1960’s. Since its original logotype in 1964, it has been developed by many well known designers.

Other Examples: Retail logotypes

When doing my research I also began to look at some examples of minimal logotypes, specifically in retail, as we are surround by them on the high street.
